Denys Golemenkov was born in 1973 in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. Fascinated by the world as a child, he had acquired a passion for the beautiful and the creative by his youth and began painting and drawing. Following his passions he completed a degree in Fine Art and went on to study Architecture for four years. During those years Denys got a chance to create art and designs in three-dimensional forms, challenging himself and others with his ideas. His Architecture studies were cut short by a sudden move to Toronto, Canada in 1995. Then Denys' creativity found a refuge in work and studies of Graphic Design.
Creating for most of his life, Denys has worked with many different medias and elements of visual art, and has expressed many different emotions through it. Denys has painted both abstract and various forms of real life adding to it all a bit of imagination. Gaining from his exposure to Architecture his most recent works, although abstract and feature straight lines, appear to be in motion and in direct relation to the city around us.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
My current abstract pieces are meant to express movements and features of the modern city life as I see them. Influenced by my architectural background I developed a new style which is bold, bright and structured. These modern and original paintings also happen to fit in very well with today's trends in interior design.
Many of these recent works I have shared with friends and family and are now scattered all over the city in their homes. Art is nothing if it is not enjoyed. Not only are my works now part of many different interiors, and welcome additions to them, they have now taken on lives of their own. Now, as each owner looks at these pieces with their own eyes and sees something different, they become something other than what I created them to be. That is the beauty of abstract art – it lives for the viewer in his own world, mirroring that person's experiences and emotions.
Painting gives me pleasure and reason to live by making something new and beautiful. I am honored to share my expressions of emotions and ideas with family, friends and strangers, adding some colour to busy everyday life.
